Michael Gambon Sir Michael John Gambon CBE was an Irish-English actor who died on September 28, 2023. Gambon began his acting career as a member of the Royal National Theatre with Laurence Olivier. He received three Olivier Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and four BAFTA Awards during his six-decade career. Queen Elizabeth II knighted him in 1998 for his contributions to drama.
